Within media content, we as consumers are introduced to numerous forms of representation where we are subconciously dictated thoughts and ideas about specific examples. For example opinions based on people, places and events.
As media/film students, it is important to be aware of these forms of representation that are presented to us and to challenge them. Are they fair? Biased? Right or wrong?
Representation is therefore as important to acknowledge as the four micro aspects of media, as it is the micro aspects that contribute to how these examples are portrayed and represented to us through the media product.
By judging and acknowledging what is being represented, it shows us your full understanding of how the media text is targeted, which is essential if you wish to achieve an 'A'.
